Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has approved the payment of a 13th-month “Eno-mber” salary bonus to state workers ahead of the Christmas season.
The governor announced this in a post on his social media handles on Monday.
Having directed the state Accountant General to disburse the bonus, Eno expressed optimism that the early payment would enable workers to celebrate with ease.
He wrote, “I have directed the Accountant General to pay the 13th-month Eno-mber salary before Christmas, so our workers can celebrate with ease. Happy New Month.”A 13th-month salary is an additional payment, often equal to one month’s salary, that employees receive on top of their regular annual salary.
It is frequently given at the end of the year to help with holiday and festive expenses.
This year’s bonus marks the third consecutive year Eno has announced the payment. In December 2024, the governor announced the payment of the ₦80,000 minimum wage to all public servants.
