Following the sacking of Nuno Espírito Santo, Nottingham Forest is set to appoint Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach.

The official announcement is expected within the next 24 hours. Postecoglou's first match in charge will be against Arsenal on Saturday.

Why Nuno Espírito Santo Was Sacked
Nuno was relieved of his duties just three games into the new Premier League season following a breakdown in his working relationship with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

The Portuguese coach had publicly expressed his frustration with the club's transfer activity over the summer, stating that his relationship with the owner had "changed" and was "not so well" this season. This public criticism, despite his having guided the club to a Europa League spot last season, led to his dismissal.

Ange Postecoglou's New Role
Postecoglou, who was recently with Tottenham Hotspur, is the frontrunner to take over the role. He left Spurs in June after a mixed season where he led them to Europa League success but had a poor league campaign.

His return to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest marks a quick return to English football. He is expected to bring several of his trusted backroom staff with him from his time at Tottenham.

The Greek-Australian manager has a previous relationship with Evangelos Marinakis due to their shared Greek heritage, which may have played a part in the appointment.
