Wife of the President, Oluremi Tinubu, has donated N1 billion to victims of recent flooding in Mokwa Local Council, Niger State, through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
The donation was made during a condolence visit to the state, where she presented a cheque and relief materials to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.
The flooding, caused by torrential rains, has displaced hundreds of residents and destroyed homes, farmlands, and infrastructure in Mokwa, Kafin Koro, Paikoro, and Lapai LGAs.
The Niger State government has since urged residents in riverine areas to move to higher ground.
In addition to the flood relief, Mrs. Tinubu also launched an economic empowerment program for 18,500 people across all 36 states and the FCT.
The program, a collaboration between the Renewed Hope Initiative and the Tony Elumelu Foundation, will provide a N50,000 grant to 500 women traders and small-scale business owners in each state.
