Oshoala Completes Move to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal

Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala has signed a two-year contract with Saudi Women’s Premier League side Al-Hilal, sealing a move that adds another chapter to her storied career.

The deal was confirmed on Monday after the 30-year-old successfully completed her medical in Riyadh, according to ESPN.

Oshoala, who was excused from Bay FC’s squad in their recent clash with Angel City, departs the National Women’s Soccer League after a brief stint with the California-based expansion club.

Al-Hilal welcomed the Super Falcons forward on Instagram, writing: “Welcome Asisat Oshoala.”

A two-time Ballon d’Or nominee, Oshoala arrives in Saudi Arabia with a glittering CV. During her five-year spell at Barcelona, she scored 107 goals in 149 appearances, helping the Spanish giants to five Liga F titles and two UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies.

Her club career has also included spells at Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chinese side Dalian Quanjian, following her early years with Nigerian outfits Robo and Rivers Angels.

At Al-Hilal, Oshoala will link up with her Super Falcons teammates Ashleigh Plumptre and Francisca Ordega. The Riyadh club finished sixth last season in a league that recently expanded from eight to ten teams.

With her experience and scoring record, Oshoala is expected to play a pivotal role as Al-Hilal aim to climb the league table and challenge for titles.
