The wife of the Anambra State governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has joined millions of people to celebrate this year’s Valentine’s Day, urging Nigerians to celebrate the occasion with the people they love, and also remember to extend a hand of kindness to everyone around them.
Soludo called on the people to exhibit words and actions that carry significant kindness and genuine affection.
The Anambra first lady, who is also the founder of the Non-Governmental Organisation, “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo”, stressed that there’s nothing more evoking than the gift of true love.
She stated this in a statement she released on Saturday as part of her message marking the celebration, emphasising that exhibiting one little act of love can make a memorable and long-lasting impact.
The Valentine’s Day celebration originated as a Christian feast day honouring a martyr named Saint Valentine, and through later folk traditions, it has also become a significant cultural, religious and commercial celebration of romance, commitment, and love in many regions of the world.
It is a day celebrated in honour of the martyr who became a symbol of love and romance due to his compassionate actions while in prison. Over time, it has evolved into a widespread cultural and commercial celebration of love and romance.
Speaking further, Soludo called on Nigerians to celebrate the occasion while remembering that to love is to carry an open and gracious heart, free from hate, unkindness, and inhumanity.
She said, “There’s nothing more evocative than the gift of true love. To love is to carry an open and gracious heart, free from hate, unkindness, and inhumanity.
“Give today not because it’s Valentine’s Day but because one little act of love can make a memorable impact.
“Let your words and actions today carry significant kindness and genuine affection.
“Celebrate this special occasion with the people you love, and remember to extend a hand of kindness to everyone around you, too. Happy Valentine’s Day. I love you all.”
