Buhari For Burial Tuesday As Mourners Throng Daura Residence

Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, who served from May 29, 2015, to May 29, 2023, and also as military head of state from January 1984 to August 1985, is scheduled for burial on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State. 

Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in a London hospital at the age of 82.

Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has announced the burial arrangements. Meanwhile, mourners have gathered at Buhari's residence in Daura, with family, friends, and associates describing him as humble, disciplined, and generous. Sulaiman Yarin-Katsina, a close friend, highlighted Buhari's unwavering simplicity and deep connection to his community.

Despite heavy security presence in Daura, commercial activities continue uninterrupted. Notable personalities who have visited the late president's residence include Katsina State Deputy Governor Faruk Jobe, his Deputy Chief of Staff Mukhtar Saulawa, Katsina APC Chairman Sani Daura, State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Nasiru Danmusa, former Katsina State SUBEB Chairman Lawal Daura, and AIG Zone 14 Aliyu Musa.

Paperwork for the release of Buhari's body from the London hospital has commenced. Vice President Kashim Shettima and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, arrived in London on Monday to receive the body.
 They were met by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, among others.

Condolences have poured in from dignitaries across Nigeria, many remembering Buhari as a man of integrity.
