The Olakulehin Royal Family has announced the funeral rites and farewell activities for the late 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the age of 90.
Funeral Arrangements
A state burial has been approved by the State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and will take place on Friday, August 8, 2025. The church service and interment will be held at the Cathedral of Saint Peters, Aremo, Ibadan, starting from 10:00 AM.
Pre-Burial Activities
A series of activities will precede the state burial, some of which were rescheduled due to the official 21-day mourning period.
These activities will commence on Sunday, August 3, 2025, with the Olubadan Olakulehin Football Cup semi-final matches at Bishop Philips Academy Stadium, Ibadan, at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
Appreciation
Olasunmbo Olakulehin, the first son of the late monarch, expressed gratitude on behalf of the family to various individuals and groups for their support, condolences, and commiserations.
These include President Bola Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde, the Olubadan-In-Council, traditional and religious leaders, politicians, businessmen, corporate representatives, Ibadan Groups and Associations, Ibadan Indigenes, Ethnic Groups, Ibadan residents, professional bodies, the people of Oyo State, and Nigerians in general.
