Oluwaseyi Adebayo, a 400-level student of Animal Production at Federal University of Technology Minna, met his untimely death on August 10. He was on a bike hiking excursion with colleagues when he slipped from a hilltop and fell into a nearby fishpond.

The local community was shaken by the incident and requested that certain rituals be performed to prevent similar incidents in the future. However, the university authorities initially declined to comply with this request.

Concerned individuals intervened and facilitated the necessary arrangements, including the provision of a white ram for the ritual sacrifice. This allowed for the release of Adebayo's remains, bringing some closure to the tragic event.

Despite the incident, the University's spokesperson, Lydia Legbo, denied knowledge of the incident when contacted for comment. The university's lack of awareness or involvement in the matter has raised questions, but the focus remains on mourning the loss of Oluwaseyi Adebayo and supporting those affected by the tragedy.
