Ene Obi, the former Country Director of Action Aid Nigeria, has called for greater representation of women in government. Her advocacy comes as a response to the lack of female representation in 14 houses of assembly across the country.

The Federal Character Commission was established to ensure balance in decision-making positions across the country. However, despite this effort, male lawmakers are still chairing committees that address women's issues. This lack of representation means that women's perspectives and experiences are not being adequately represented in the decision-making process.

To address this issue, the Nigerian House of Representatives has passed a bill aimed at increasing women's representation in government. The bill seeks to create more opportunities for women to hold public office and have a greater say in the country's decision-making process. Ene Obi's advocacy and the passage of this bill are important steps towards achieving gender parity in Nigerian politics.
