Digital literacy and connectivity program in Osun State:
Osun State Boosts Digital Literacy in Schools with UN, IHS Collaboration
Approximately 200 teachers and school heads from public primary and secondary schools across Osun State have participated in a digital literacy and connectivity program.
The initiative, a collaboration between the Osun State Government, the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fundi (UNICEF), and telecommunication infrastructure company IHS Nigeria Limited, aims to enhance digital skills and provide internet access to schools.
The training, held in Ede, Osun State, saw participation from teachers, principals, and head teachers selected from 40 public primary and 60 secondary schools. Mr. M. Jimoh, the Permanent Secretary of the Osun State Ministry of Education, commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for his support and urged school administrators to ensure students maximize the benefits of the training.
In addition to the training, each of the 100 participating schools received a router with unlimited data. Jimoh emphasized the importance of using these resources to benefit pupils and impart knowledge.
The program also involves Focus Teens Foundation as the last-mile implementing partner, ensuring the successful deployment of connectivity solutions and digital literacy training directly to schools in need.
Representatives from the organizing bodies highlighted that digital literacy is no longer a luxury but a necessity, crucial for equipping students with skills to thrive in the future economy.
