The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has urged young Nigerians to remain focused and hardworking while calling for a renewed national commitment to empowering the youth to reach their full potential.
On Wednesday, in her message to commemorate International Youth Day 2026, the First Lady reflected on the global theme, ‘Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,’ noting that despite diverse backgrounds, young people worldwide share common goals of quality education, meaningful employment, equal opportunities, and a sustainable future.
“I encourage our youth to remain focused and hardworking. Use education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and active citizenship to pursue your dreams, fulfil your potential, and help build a more peaceful and prosperous Nigeria,” she said.
She called on stakeholders across the country to create enabling opportunities for the youth to contribute meaningfully to societal growth.
“As we commemorate this day, let us renew our commitment to supporting and empowering young people by creating opportunities for them to realise their full potential,” she added.
International Youth Day is observed annually on August 12 by the United Nations to recognise the role of young people as essential partners in socio-economic development and to highlight the challenges and aspirations of youth globally.
