The All Progressives Congress APC has decided to hold its primary elections to select candidates for four restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states and legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states on Saturday, 22nd of August.

The party announced this in its timetable and schedule of activities signed by its National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, and shared on Wednesday.

The APC said the timetable is in accordance with the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission to restore “four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi States.”

It listed the affected constituencies in Delta as “Abraka, Isoko North II, and Ughelli South II State Constituencies,” while Yagba West II State Constituency was listed for Kogi State.

For the legislative bye-elections, the party listed “Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Gombe State”; Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi; Udu State Constituency in Delta; and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano.

The APC said, “the All Progressives Congress hereby releases its Timetable and Schedule of Activities” for the conduct of its primaries for the restored constituencies and the 2026 legislative bye-elections.

Following what was on the timetable, the sale of forms will take place from Tuesday, August 18, to Thursday, August 20, while the last day for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents is the 20th of August.

The party scheduled the screening of aspirants, publication of screening results and screening appeals for Friday, 21st of August, before the primary election on Saturday, 22nd of August.
Election appeals are scheduled for Monday, 24th of August.

For House of Assembly aspirants, the APC fixed the expression of interest fee at N1m and nomination fee at N5m, bringing the total to N6m.

For House of Representatives aspirants, the expression of interest fee is N1m, while the nomination fee is N9m, totalling N10m.

The party stated that “Female Aspirants, Youth and Physically Challenged Aspirants are to pay for the Expression of Interest and 50% of the prescribed Nomination fees for each position.”

It further directed that “all payments should be made in full directly into the designated bank account of the All Progressives Congress.”

The affected constituencies had been suppressed for years, leaving residents without direct representation in the respective State Houses of Assembly.

Also included in the APC timetable are forthcoming legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states. This includes the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, which was vacated following the demise of Hon. Tongo Yaya.
