APC Campaign Council Members Ask Tinubu for Inclusion in Appointments
Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) have written an open letter to President Bola Tinubu, asking him to include them in appointments and political patronage.
The group, led by Alhaji Mohammed Mariam Alhassan, warned that ignoring PCC members who worked hard during the 2023 elections could weaken the ruling party ahead of the 2027 polls.
In the letter dated Monday, August 18, 2025, Alhassan congratulated President Tinubu, APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and other party leaders on the party’s victories in recent bye-elections. He described the wins as proof of Tinubu’s “political doggedness, strategic leadership, and commitment to democracy.”
However, he cautioned that many PCC members felt abandoned after the elections. According to him, those who carried Tinubu’s message across the country and defended his mandate in difficult regions now feel left out of the government’s plans.
“The perception of neglect in appointments and patronage towards Campaign Council members is not just an internal grievance, it is a strategic weakness,” Alhassan said.
He explained that the motivation of PCC members was vital for the APC’s strength ahead of 2027. “When loyal supporters feel valued, they give more. But when they feel overlooked, they withdraw, and that opens space for opponents to take advantage,” he added.
The group urged Tinubu to prioritize inclusion and reward PCC members, describing it as both a sign of loyalty and a smart investment in the party’s stability.
“By deliberately increasing the inclusion and patronage of these members now, you would not merely be rewarding loyalty; you would be fortifying your political machinery for 2027,” the statement said.
Alhassan also stressed that the APC’s strength lies in unity and mobilization. He advised Tinubu to empower loyal stakeholders to reduce internal division and keep the party strong.
The PCC members concluded by praying for peace and unity in Nigeria, while reminding the President that “2027 is closer than it appears” and urging him to strengthen alliances to protect his political legacy.
