Former Liverpool captain and Premier League winner Jordan Henderson has officially joined Brentford on a two-year deal, marking his return to the English top flight after a two-season absence. This move makes him Brentford's fifth summer signing.

Henderson, who celebrated his 35th birthday on June 17, 1990, arrives at the west London club on a free transfer after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with Ajax.

He spent a year and a half with the Dutch club, following a six-month stint in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ettifaq after leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2022/23 season.

During his 12 years at Anfield, Henderson became club captain in 2015 and led Liverpool to significant triumphs, including the UEFA Champions League in 2018/19 and their historic Premier League title in 2019/20, ending a 30-year wait for top-flight success. He made 492 appearances in all competitions for the Reds.

With 84 caps for England, Henderson has been a consistent presence in the national squad, featuring in the 2018 FIFA World Cup semi-final and the 2020 European Championships final.
Henderson expressed his excitement about joining Brentford, citing head coach Keith Andrews as a significant reason for his decision to join the club and help them progress.

His potential debut for Brentford could come in a pre-season friendly against Gil Vicente on July 25. Brentford will kick off their Premier League campaign on August 17 with an away fixture against Nottingham Forest.
