Nigerian Senate President Godswill Akpabio has urged the Chinese government to increase its aid to Nigeria. He made this call during a meeting with a Chinese delegation led by Zhang Qingwei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China.
Akpabio emphasized the importance of strengthening the economic, cultural, and social ties between Nigeria and China. He proposed establishing a Nigeria-China Parliamentary Friendship Group to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between the two nations.
The Senate President also highlighted Nigeria's potential as a hub of innovation and creativity. He encouraged China to invest in Nigeria's development, particularly in areas that align with the country's economic priorities.
Akpabio's call for increased aid comes at a time when aid pledged to Africa is declining. He believes that China, as a strategic partner, can play a significant role in supporting Nigeria's development aspirations. By strengthening their bilateral relationship, Nigeria and China can explore new opportunities for cooperation and mutual benefit.
