Vice President Kashim Shettima has visited Aisha Buhari, the widow of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, and their children in London.
Shettima is leading a Nigerian Government delegation tasked with accompanying Buhari's remains back to Nigeria.
Former President Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at a clinic in London, United Kingdom, at the age of 82.
He served as Nigeria's military Head of State from December 31, 1983, to August 27, 1985, and later as a democratically elected President from May 29, 2015, to May 29, 2023.
During his presidency, he reportedly spent at least 225 days on medical trips abroad, primarily to London.
Although the return of Buhari's body was initially scheduled for Monday, it was delayed.
Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has confirmed that the former president's body is now expected to arrive in Nigeria by 12 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, with the burial to take place in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, by 2 p.m.
This decision was made after consultations with the family and other key individuals. The Federal Government has also declared July 15, 2025, as a public holiday in honor of the late president.
