Premier League Is Back: Big Boys Make Big Noise on Opening Weekend

The Premier League returned with fireworks as the league’s biggest clubs all laid down early markers in very different ways.

Manchester City looked ruthless, brushing Wolves aside 4–0 with Erling Haaland scoring twice, while new boys Reijnders and Cherki fitted in seamlessly. It was the kind of statement start that screams one thing, they are still the team to beat.

Liverpool entertained and alarmed in equal measures during a chaotic 4–2 victory over Bournemouth. Brilliant up front through Salah and Chiesa, shaky at the back, they remain box-office but can they tighten up if they want a serious title push?

Arsenal edged past Manchester United 1–0 in a tight battle decided by a set-piece header from Riccardo Calafiori. It wasn’t pretty, but it felt like the kind of gritty win champion teams grind out, especially when away to another top-four rival.

Manchester United, meanwhile, lacked attacking sharpness in that loss, raising early questions about where the goals will come from this season if they want to seriously challenge.

Tottenham, under Thomas Frank, provided opening-week sparkle with a vibrant 3–0 win over Burnley. Richarlison buzzed with a brace, and Spurs looked quick, sharp, and modern offering real belief that they may be back in the Champions League hunt.

Chelsea were held 0–0 by Crystal Palace, a reminder that despite new signings and a fresh era at Stamford Bridge, they are still searching for consistency and a winning rhythm.

The league’s heavyweights have already shown their hands City ruthless, Arsenal solid, Liverpool chaotic, Spurs exciting, Chelsea uncertain, United blunt. It’s only week one, but storylines are already rolling, with early identity, sharpness, and momentum potentially shaping the title and top-four race from day one.
