The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid. This holiday marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
In his message, the Minister congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world.
He urged them to reflect on and emulate the Prophet's virtues, including peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.
He emphasized that these values are essential for building a united and prosperous nation.
The government also called on all Nigerians, regardless of their religious beliefs, to use the occasion to pray for the peace, security, and stability of the country and to support the government's efforts toward national harmony and sustainable development.
