Cassava Technologies Partners With Accenture to Power Africa’s AI Future

African tech powerhouse Cassava Technologies has announced a major partnership with global consulting firm Accenture, aimed at scaling sovereign AI and cloud capabilities across the continent.

As one of Africa’s leading digital infrastructure providers, Cassava Technologies operates the continent’s largest fiber optic network, stretching more than 110,000 kilometers across over 20 countries and offers broadband, data centers, cybersecurity, and cloud services.

This new collaboration will see Accenture integrate its sovereign AI solutions into Cassava’s data center infrastructure, allowing African organizations to process AI workloads and sensitive data within their national borders — an essential step for data protection, compliance, and trust in local AI systems.

“Collaborating with Accenture allows us to leverage their global expertise in building a sovereign AI cloud capability designed for the African market,”

said Ahmed El Beheiry, Chief AI Officer at Cassava Technologies.

“This partnership will strengthen data governance, drive practical AI adoption, and ensure that we provide African solutions for African challenges.”

Cassava’s GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) model — offering scalable, on-demand computing power will enable African businesses to run complex AI workloads without massive upfront infrastructure costs. The company describes this as a game-changer that could “democratize AI access” across industries.

The partnership will first roll out in South Africa, before expanding to Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, and Nigeria. Priority industries include financial services, mining, telecommunications, agriculture, and healthcare — all sectors expected to see rapid transformation through AI adoption.

Accenture’s CEO for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Mauro Macchi, added:

“AI is opening up exciting new opportunities for sparking innovation, advancing competitiveness, and driving growth across Africa. Together with Cassava, we’ll help organizations adopt AI with confidence and unlock new ways to create value.”

According to a McKinsey & Company report, AI could unlock hundreds of billions in additional value for African economies, with generative AI alone projected to contribute around $100 billion.

Cassava’s move with Accenture signals a bold step toward building Africa’s own AI ecosystem, where data sovereignty, digital independence, and technological inclusion take center stage.
