The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is outraged and demands the immediate release of their president, Joe Ajaero, who was detained by the Nigerian government. Ajaero was en route to the United Kingdom to attend a global gathering of workers, where he would address critical discussions on workers' rights and social justice.

The NLC strongly condemns this detention, calling it a "brazen act of lawlessness and intimidation." In response, they are putting all affiliates on high alert, ready to take action in solidarity with their leader.

Furthermore, the NLC is calling on the international community and human rights organizations to take note of this situation and the "rising wave of authoritarianism in Nigeria." They urge global leaders to speak out against this injustice and stand in support of workers' rights and democratic freedoms.
