The Nigerian Senate has accused Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of using the National Assembly complex to create "skits" and "content" following her attempt to resume legislative duties despite an ongoing suspension.
Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, speaking on Channels TV on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, described Akpoti-Uduaghan's attempt to gain entry into the complex as "theatrical."
He suggested her actions were less about fulfilling her legislative role and more about generating viral content, stating, "We are legislators and lawmakers, not spectators to be watching skit-making and content creation."
Adaramodu further asserted that what began as "political grandstanding" had now devolved into a "full-blown drama series" or "season film," which the Senate has no interest in.
He reiterated, "We are lawmakers, not actors, we are not interested in all these kinds of things."
He also emphasized that any court judgment pertaining to Akpoti-Uduaghan's suspension or resumption must be enforced through proper legal channels, not through self-enforcement by the litigant.
"Even if someone gets a court judgment, the enforcement must be carried out through legal channels. Court bailiffs serve orders — litigants don’t enforce them themselves,” he explained.
Adaramodu concluded by reiterating the Senate's disinterest in what he termed a continuation of "content creation episodes" by Akpoti-Uduaghan, maintaining that she "remains suspended."
