Effective Monday, July 28, 2025, Lagos State and parts of Ogun State will experience a 25-day power outage, lasting until Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Details of the Outage:
1.Duration: Daily, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Reason: Maintenance work by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to install an Optical Ground Wire (OGW) fibre cable on the Omotosho/Ikeja West 330kV transmission line.
Purpose of Upgrade: To enable full operationalization of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, enhancing real-time monitoring and management of the power grid.

3.Parts of Ogun State, including Sagamu, Ogijo, and Abeokuta.
Impact: Customers may experience intermittent power supply and load shedding across the networks of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) and Eko Disco (EKEDC).
Safety Measure: The power system will be shut down during the upgrade for safety reasons.
Restoration: Power will be restored through the line after each day's work, and other circuits will remain operational to ensure a stable power supply to the Lagos complex during the exercise.
The Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED) has confirmed the disruption, and both IKEDC and EKEDC have issued notices to their customers regarding the planned outage. Normalcy is expected to be restored within the stated timeframe.
