The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that it will repatriate Nigerians who were found stranded in the Bambari region of the Central African Republic (CAR).

This decision comes after a viral video surfaced showing the distressed individuals, who were reportedly abandoned by their employers and facilitators.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, through its spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa, confirmed that officials from the Nigerian Mission in Bangui, the capital of CAR, have successfully made contact with the affected Nigerians and retrieved their passports.

A vehicle has been dispatched to Bambari, which is approximately 850km from Bangui, to evacuate the stranded individuals.

They are expected to arrive in Bangui on Saturday, July 26, 2025, with a military escort.

The Ministry is also engaging with the company involved to ensure their accommodation and welfare while in Bangui, and subsequently, their swift repatriation to Nigeria.

The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting its citizens abroad and urged Nigerians seeking overseas employment to conduct thorough checks on prospective employers and ensure all travel documents are in order before departing the country.
