Snoop Dogg Joins Swansea City Ownership, Allying Rap and Football

In a surprising move that bridges the worlds of music and sports, legendary rapper Snoop Dogg, 53, has become a co-owner of Championship side Swansea City. The Welsh club announced the investment on Thursday, confirming his involvement alongside former Real Madrid star and Croatia World Cup finalist Luka Modric, who also joined the club's ownership structure earlier this year.

Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, had previously hinted at his new role by making a surprise appearance on the club's social media channels last week, modeling their new home jersey for the 2025-26 season.

His investment follows the takeover of Swansea City by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen in November of last year.

Swansea City hopes that Snoop Dogg's massive social media following, exceeding 100 million, will significantly boost the club's profile as they aim for a return to the Premier League, from which they were relegated in 2018.

The club's owners have expressed their desire to generate greater revenue, which would allow for increased investment in new players under British football's profit and sustainability rules.
"My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City," the rapper stated on the club’s website.

This high-profile acquisition follows a similar trajectory to that of Swansea's Welsh rivals, Wrexham, who have experienced a meteoric rise to the Championship since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney purchased the club in 2020.
