Ogun State Slams Portable for Assaulting Officials
The Ogun State Government has sharply condemned hip-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, after he allegedly attacked officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) at his bar in Iyana Ilogbo, Ota.
According to reports, Portable who remains at large barricaded, obstructed, and physically assaulted town planners Ramon Lateef, Akinpelumi Oyero, and Abidemi Onabanjo while they were performing their duties. In connection with the incident, nine of his associates, aged between 19 and 28, appeared before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on Thursday. They face charges including armed violence, felony, obstruction, assault, inciting a breach of peace, and intent to kill, with bail set at N5 million each.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, denounced Portable as a “serial dissident and unrepentant rascal” known for repeatedly assaulting government officials without provocation. Akinmade stressed that the illegal act would be dealt with according to the law, noting that Portable’s behavior is causing fear and disorder in the community.
The governor’s statement also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to stamping out illegal activities and upholding high moral standards across the state. “Any individual who flouts the law, regardless of their status or influence, will face the full force of justice,” the statement declared.
