Nigeria's Super Eagles have experienced a slight dip in the latest FIFA World Rankings, dropping one spot from 43rd to 44th globally.

The updated rankings were released on Thursday, July 10, 2025, following a period of over 200 international matches, including World Cup qualifiers and regional tournaments.
Despite this minor setback, Nigeria maintains its strong standing as the fifth-highest ranked team in Africa. The top four African nations remain Morocco (12th globally), Senegal (18th), Egypt (34th), and Algeria (36th).

The Super Eagles continue to hold a superior position over long-standing West African rivals Ghana (76th globally) and South Africa (56th globally). Ivory Coast, who had previously surpassed Nigeria, now sit just below them after a four-place drop.

Nigeria's recent mixed results in friendly matches and tournament appearances, including the Unity Cup, have contributed to this adjustment in their ranking.

Globally, Argentina retains the top spot, followed by Spain, France, England, and Brazil. Notably, Croatia has re-entered the top ten, replacing Italy, while Mexico climbed to 13th after their CONCACAF Gold Cup victory. Costa Rica made the most significant global jump, moving up 14 places to 40th. Within Africa, Zambia also saw an improvement, gaining five places to reach 83rd.

The Super Eagles will have their next opportunity to improve their standing in the September round of World Cup qualifiers and scheduled friendlies ahead of the 2026 tournament. The next FIFA rankings update is anticipated on September 18, 2025.
