Manchester United have reached a verbal agreement with Michael Carrick to take charge as the club’s interim manager until the end of the season, according to Sky Sports on Tuesday.
Carrick, a former United midfielder and coach, is set to return to Old Trafford in a caretaker role as the club looks to stabilise performances following a turbulent period on and off the pitch.
While the agreement is understood to be verbal at this stage, a formal announcement is expected once final details are completed.
