Taye Taiwo, one of Super eagle's retired defenders has been inducted into the club of legends, Former French Ligue 1 champions Olympique Marseille. 



Taiwo is one of the greatest left-back in Super Eagles history, as he registered 54 caps between 2004 and 2011. The 39-year-old registered also had five goals to his name.


At club level, Taiwo played for two of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Marseille and AC Milan. He also played in the English Premier League with QPR.

When he relocated to Europe, Marseille was his first stop.
Taye Taiwo made a big name for himself in his six years at the club. The former Super Eagles star registered 25 goals and 23 assists in 271 appearances before leaving for AC Milan in 2011.


Taiwo was quite successful with Les Phoceens, as he won the Ligue 1, League Cup, and the French Super Cup.

The former Nigeria international retired from football in 2019 and has been living in France since then.

In a recent development on Sunday, Marseille announced that they had inducted Taiwo into their club of Legends.

This Club of Legends consists of players who made a big impact at the club. This can be likened to a Hall of Fame. Some big names like Samir Nasri, Lori Cana, Mamadou Niang, Fabrizio Ravaneli, and Paulo Cezar.


It's been recorded that in the past have had only four Nigerians. Aside from Taiwo, the club have had Wilson Oruma, Joseph Yobo and Victor Agali.
