Tragedy struck in Ibadan, Nigeria, where a stampede at a funfair resulted in the deaths of 35 minors. The incident occurred at the Islamic High School, Orita Bashorun, and has sparked widespread condemnation.
The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has vowed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and promised to take action against those responsible. The governor also expressed his condolences to the parents of the victims.
In a recent update, the State Police Command announced the arrest of seven suspects linked to the disaster, including Naomi Silekunola, the former queen of the Ooni of Ife, and Fasasi Abdulahi, the principal of the Islamic High School.
The suspects are currently being held in custody, and the case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
