Eze Ndigbo Mourns Olubadan, Lauds Ibadan's Succession System.

James Oramadike, the Eze Ndigbo of Ibadan and Yorubaland, has extended his condolences to Governor Seyi Makinde, the people of Ibadan, and the family of the late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan. Oba Olakulehin passed away last Monday at the age of 90, shortly before his first coronation anniversary.

Oramadike described the late Olubadan as a "symbol of unity and strength," whose leadership and wisdom will be deeply missed. He prayed for strength for the family and loved ones to bear the loss.
In his statement, Oramadike also praised Ibadan's established system of ascension to the Olubadan stool, which rotates between the Otun Line and the Balogun Line.
He highlighted that this system has designated Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the most senior king on the Otun Line, as the next Olubadan, succeeding the late Oba Olakulehin.

The Eze Ndigbo urged other Nigerian kingdoms to develop similar rancor-free succession systems. He also acknowledged Oba Ladoja's past role as governor in fostering positive relations between Ibadan, the Igbo community, and other non-indigenous residents.

Oramadike concluded by pledging the continued support and cooperation of the Igbo community for the progress of Ibadanland.
