2027 Elections: ‘Rig and Die’ — Charly Boy Sends Warning to Politicians

Veteran Nigerian entertainer, Charles Oputa popularly known as Charly Boy or Area Fada, has sent a strong message to politicians ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning against any attempt to rig the polls.

Speaking in an interview with Rudolf Okonkwo on 90MinutesAfrica, the septuagenarian described the next election as a “defining moment” for Nigeria, insisting that the slogan for 2027 will be “rig and die.”

“The 2027 election will be a defining moment for Nigeria. Anybody that plans to rig should be ready to die. It is rig and die,” Charly Boy said. “By that time, our eyes will be fully open. They are already opening now. What will happen in 2026 will determine if Nigerians want to continue this way or cause a revolution.”

He stressed that credible elections are the only solution to bad governance in the country.

“The solution to bad governance in Nigeria can only come when our votes begin to count. Our main focus now should be how to make sure our votes count in 2027,” he added.

On Lagos bus stop renaming

Reacting to the Lagos State Government’s decision to rename ‘Charly Boy Bus Stop’ in Bariga, the activist dismissed the move as “outright silly and a bloody distraction.”

According to him, the real priority should be rescuing millions of Nigerians who go to bed hungry every night.
