Lil Nas X Arrested in Los Angeles After Street Incident
US rapper Lil Nas X has been arrested and taken to hospital after a bizarre incident in Los Angeles, where he was found walking in his underwear and later confronted police.
Police said the 25-year-old star, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, was spotted shortly before 6 a.m. on Thursday on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City. Officers were called after reports of a nearly naked man acting strangely.
When police arrived, Hill allegedly charged at them and punched one officer twice in the face. He was quickly restrained, arrested for battery on a police officer, and transported to a local hospital for what authorities described as a possible overdose.
A law enforcement source told NBC News that officers were still unsure if Hill was under the influence of substances or experiencing a mental health crisis.
Footage obtained by TMZ showed the rapper wandering the street around 4 a.m., wearing only white briefs and cowboy boots. In some clips, he could be heard telling a driver to “come to the party” and in another saying, “Didn’t I tell you to put the phone down?”
Videos also showed him strutting as if on a runway, posing for passersby, and even placing an orange traffic cone on his head.
Representatives for Lil Nas X have not yet commented on the incident.
The rapper, best known for his global hit “Old Town Road,” has been open in the past about struggles with fame and mental health.
