Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has said he would retire from politics after completing his tenure, saying opportunity should be given to younger Nigerians to take over leadership.
Speaking on the importance of good governance, Otti said people who have experienced effective leadership would resist any attempt to take them back to poor governance.
“Once I finish this one, I will retire. Why do I say so? I want the young people to take over,” he said in Umuahia.
“The most important thing you can give a people is good governance.”
The governor added that he had zero intention of becoming a political godfather, firmly stating that he did not tolerate godfathers. “I don’t want to be a godfather. And I don’t tolerate godfathers,” he said.
He said once people taste good governance, they won't want to return to what he called the old order.
