Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly attempting to hijack Victor Osimhen's proposed permanent transfer to Galatasaray.
The Nigerian striker has been excluded from Napoli's pre-season training camp, a clear indication of his impending departure.
Osimhen, 26, recently returned to Naples after a successful loan spell at Galatasaray, where he netted 37 goals in 41 appearances. He has submitted a medical note to Napoli, excusing him from pre-season medical tests, as he actively seeks a permanent move to the Turkish champions.
However, PSG's sporting director, Luis Campos, is reportedly in direct talks with Osimhen. Campos previously signed Osimhen for LOSC Lille in 2019 and shares a strong relationship with the forward, which could disrupt Galatasaray's efforts to secure a €75m deal.
Despite a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia, Osimhen is reportedly "open" to joining Galatasaray, and negotiations between the Turkish club and Napoli are ongoing. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Napoli has sent a counter-proposal to Galatasaray, and a decision on the new conditions is expected soon.
The proposed transfer fee for Osimhen remains at €75m, with Napoli seeking an upfront payment of around €50m and the remaining €25m by the end of 2026. Galatasaray has agreed to provide a letter of credit to guarantee full payment, though bureaucratic hurdles might cause delays.
However, some football insiders express skepticism about Osimhen's fit at PSG.
Bruno Satin, former agent of Kalidou Koulibaly, stated that he's unsure if PSG can rely on Osimhen, as coach Luis Enrique often prefers a "false nine" system with Ousmane Dembele, and Osimhen's arrival would necessitate him being a starter, potentially disrupting existing tactics.
Other players excluded from Napoli's pre-season camp include Cyril Ngonge, Walid Cheddira, Jesper Lindstrom, Michael Folorunsho, Jens Cajuste, and Giuseppe Ambrosino.
Osimhen's exclusion is the most prominent, signaling his imminent move away from the Serie A club.
