Argentine fans launched campaign which is gaining momentum on a digital platform, this campaign is aimed at calling for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final between Argentina and Spain to be replayed.
The petition which was published on Change.org, has already gathered more than 61,500 signatures and urges FIFA to review the event of the match played on the 19th of July in New York.
The petition was started by supporter Gisela Sánchez, who finds the performance of Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić during the Final questionable.
The text argues that several refereeing decisions have major effect on the outcome of the match and asks FIFA to review the incidents. It also alleges irregularities, although it does not provide verifiable evidence to support those claims.
Petitions raised may not be considered as petitions hosted on platforms such as Change.org have no regulatory authority and cannot force FIFA to alter the result of an official competition.
There can only be a match replay under exceptional circumstances established in the sport's regulations or through a ruling by the relevant governing bodies.
